Dercided to go in a different direction with the reviews from now on- trying to make the band reviews a lot more in depth than usual, so it will take a while. Here's to that bunch of fallen heroes- HELLOWEEN
There;s a lot of things people don't get about metal fans. We aren't like anyone else. No other musical genre has a more faithful following. No other musical genre opens your mind to such a degree. No other musical genre changes your life and your psyche the way metal does. Everybody likes music. But most people just grow out of it. They listen to whatever they do as teens, then, well, it just kind of goes away and they all grow up and become your average boring adults. maybe they'll remember the stuff they used to listen to as teenagers, but only in the context of remembering their youth with a nostalgic eye twinkle. We don't. A lot of people have problems understanding what metal does to you. It never leaves you. I have said it before and will say it again- metal is a gateway drug. IT will open your mind, and it will force it to stay open. It will make you think. And understand your own choices better. I've been a metalhead for 26 years. It made me the person I am, and I'm VERY fucking proud of the person I am. It was the catalyst to my development as a human being, the fuel behind everything I've done, and everything I am. I know a lot of people like me. We're special.
The idea of a NWOBHM festival in Britain is one of such obvious awesomeness I have always been surprised it hadn't happened before. I'd wager that the British metalheads have been long shamed by the fact the world's most famous old school festival happens in Germany.
