THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA — the new classic-rock band featuring Björn Strid (SOILWORK) and Sharlee D' Angelo (ARCH ENEMY, SPIRITUAL BEGGARS) — has inked a deal with Coroner Records. The group is currently recording its debut album for a June release.
THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA started like so many others as an innocent yet serious drunken idea when Strid and David Andersson (MEAN STREAK, session musician for SOILWORK) were on the road together somewhere in North America in 2007. Björn and David were bonding over what they considered "classic" or not, from rock and roll conspiracies to being arrested in a lobby with nothing but leather pants on. All those scenarios, fictional or real, needed a soundtrack. They also came to think that whether you're on a metal tour or not, a lot of classic rock songs say it all and can really lend you a helping hand and make you forget about everything, especially when in motion or travelling. The classic escape. The never-ending road trip. The transatlantic night flight. It may sound simple and naive, but what it all comes down to is that we all need that soundtrack to feel extra special, whether you have been arrested in a lobby or not.

MOONLYGHT To Enter Studio This Summer - Feb. 6, 2012
Quebec's resurrected dark metallers MOONLYGHT will enter the studio this summer to record their third album, "Return To Desolation". Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Return To Desolation", "Human Rememberance", "Dwelling In Earth's Shadow", "A Distant Illusion Of Freedom" and "The Sweet Poisonned Light".

SLAYER's KERRY KING: We Are Looking To Hit The Studio In March (Video) - Feb. 6, 2012
Artisan News caught up with SLAYER guitarist Kerry King last month at the first-ever Rock & Roll Roast at The Grove in Anaheim, California and asked him about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the band's next album (see video below).
"We got back out [on the road] May 25 in Europe, then we'll be back in the States, of course," Kerry said. "Hopefully we'll get in the studio to record [the new CD] before then, 'cause it's time-consuming. We're looking to get in March and April, so hopefully be done [recording] by the time [we have to go back out on tour]."
